Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale

The Unified Parkinson’s Disease Rating Scale (UPDRS) is used to judge the effectiveness of drugs and rehabilitation strategies in combating the symptoms of Parkinson’s Disease.  You may be familiar with the scale.  It is also used by most Movement Disorder Specialists. The measurements incorporated into the scale include the rate and amplitude by which you can open and close your hands and tap your feet, the ability to stand up from a chair without using your arms, gait, and balance.
